* En molts texts, excloent diccionaris i material didàctic, la lletra “ё” és usada rarament i s'escriu “е”, sense dièresi. Tanmateix, es continua pronunciant i transcrivint com a “ё”. En el Viccionari ho tractem com a variant ortogràfica mantenint l'entrada principal escrita amb “ё”.
* La lletra “ё” normalment és tònica, amb transcripció ó/ió, excepte en monosíl·labs, mots compostos amb un prefix que inclou “ё”, o béi en manlleus rars.
* No es tenen en compte els emmudiments en certs grups de consonants, es transcriuen totes les lletres.
* En topònims coneguts i en cognoms de russos a l'estranger hi poden haver pràctiques diferents donades per l'ús.
* No es tenen en compte les reduccions de vocals àtones. En una primera aproximació, es poden llegir sense la neutralització de vocals del català oriental.

El rus no utilitza l'accent gràfic, però en un diccionari es convenient mostrar-lo en el lema amb un accent sobre la vocal tònica.
There are no more exceptions if the pronunciation is expected and can be learned from the basics of Russian phonology, specifically:
* The reduction of vowels and voicing/devoicing of consonants are not reflected in the transliteration.
* Verb endings “-тся” and “-ться” are transliterated as written as ''-tsja'' and ''-tʹsja'': {{l|ru|оде́ться}}, {{l|ru|оде́нется}}.
* Silent consonants in consonant clusters are transliterated: “{{l|ru|че́стный|tr=-}}” is ''čéstnyj'', not ''čésnyj''.
* Sibilants changing pronunciation are transliterated letter by letter as per the table: “{{l|ru|сча́стье|tr=-}}” is ''sčástʹje'', not ''ščástʹje''.
* Combinations “жи”, “ши”, and “ци” are transliterated as ''ži'', ''ši'' and ''ci'', not ''žy'', ''šy'' and ''cy''.
* The letter “ь” at the end of words ending in “ж”, “ш”, “щ” and “ч” has no effect on the pronunciation, but is still transliterated as ʹ: {{l|ru|рожь}}, {{l|ru|мышь}}, {{l|ru|вещь}}, {{l|ru|печь}}, {{l|ru|делать|де́лаешь}}.

En la transcripció se segueixen les normes d'accentuació en català. S'utilitza l'accent tancat, excepte ''à''. La ''e'' i la ''o'' poden tenir una pronunciació oberta en alguns casos però són majoritàriament tancades i es transcriuen de forma invariable.
Syllabic [[stress]] is indicated by an acute accent ´ over the stressed vowel:
* Roman: Á, á, É, é, ɛ́, Í, í, Ó, ó, Ú, ú and Ý, ý (já, jé, jó, jú, etc.).
* Cyrillic: “А́”, “а́”, “Е́”, “е́”, “И́”, “и́”, “О́”, “о́”, “У́”, “у́”, “Ы́”, “ы́”, “Э́”, “э́”, “Ю́”, “ю́”, “Я́”, “я́”.
E.g., “{{l|ru|ры́ба}}” (''rýba'', “fish”).
