  • Etimologia: Del protogermànic *stadiz («lloc d'estada»), del protoindoeuropeu *stéh₂tis («estacionament»), cognat del terme en anglès antic stede, influït posteriorment pel francès antic ester del qual adquirí el sentit de «romandre».
